How antioxidants help revitalize your skin

Antioxidants are nature’s brilliant response to the cell-damaging molecules called free radicals. Antioxidants fight and neutralize these highly reactive chemical bonds that form during the oxidation process, and they protect your cells from harm.

Pollution, sun exposure, smoke and extreme weather conditions are only some of the external causes that support the creation of free radicals. They also develop inside your body where they form as part of your normal metabolism, and also in stress situations, when adrenaline-related chemicals restrict regular blood flow and generate free radicals. They can damage cell structures such as DNA, protein and cellular membranes, and can lead to inflammation, premature aging and even chronic diseases.

The production of free radicals increases with age, while the inner defense mechanisms that counteracts them decreases. A critical reason to keep your antioxidant levels balanced.

Vitamins A, C and E, Beta-Carotene and selenium are the most common antioxidants. They are present in plant foods, and especially in the ones with bright, distinctive colors. Fruits such as red cherries, oranges, plums, blueberries and avocado, and vegetables such as broccoli, red bell pepper and spinach are only a few examples of antioxidant rich plants.

Incorporating antioxidants in your diet and into your skin care routine will not only boost your health, but also reward you with a fresh, youthful and vibrant look.

Antioxidants can help to prevent and repair damage to your body's tissue by slowing down and even preventing the effects of free radicals. They protect and support your skin from within, stimulate the body’s natural healthy metabolism and encourage optimal skin cell renewal.

Antioxidants are important for the production of collagen; they support and stimulate the growth and repair of tissue, protect skin from the damaging effects of the sun, and rehydrate and rebuild moisture balance.

Antioxidants help to revitalize your skin’s ability to heal and renew itself – just the way nature intended it.
